Going to have the week from hell!!
« on: May 31, 2010, 10:19:44 pm »
Well Ive been dreading this week!!

My wife is currently pregnant, when I first found out I sold my 3dr GTi to S2 Ant on here and do miss the car loads, but on the good side I bought iftis Ed30 5dr!! Which in itself is a great car, but I do prefer my 3dr.

Anyway, things havent been going to good with my wife's pregnancy and shes going into hospital to have a load of tests done, incl an amnio (SP) The major result will be here on thurs/fri so im keeping my fingers crossed that everything is ok!!

Since we found out things werent right, we as a family, myself, wife and daughter have spent alot of time together as a unit and its been great, too the point that both my wife and I have realised we dont do enough together as a family! We have been more tied up with work, chores etc etc

So I am now toying with the idea of stripping the Ed30 of the Mods and selling up, getting something alot cheaper, putting the money away, go on a holiday and just enjoying things in general.

Fingers crossed that this week goes OK

That sounds like a great plan family always comes first no matter what, Fingers crossed for you and the family. And even if it all works out ok i would still consider going through with your plan.  :happy2:

You can always get another Eddie when the family is settled.  :star:

Fingers crossed for you...As nice as it is to have a car like that you cant put a price on the experiences and memories you will go through with the family on holiday etc.

You don't think like that until you get married and have children. However, having lost my son at 4yo and now divorced, to be very honest my car comes first after my daughter.

As long as life is happy and you're all healthy it's all that matters. Don't fret too much, Smudgster, things may not turn out as bad as you fear and a first birth is always a worry because it's all a new experience and a pretty major event. Just be grateful you ain't female!

The mk5 is an incredibly safe and reliable platform to cart around an expectant mother and (hopefully soon) a tiny healthy child. I recommend you keep it. It would be irresponsible to sell it and get something that would be less safe.

(just teasing! do what you feel you need to :) )

Thanks all!

It all went ok this morning so its just a waiting game. This ok 2nd attempt at expanding our family and give our daughter a brother or sister. Now its just a waiting game!!

Its not about the  Golf not being appropiate cars, its just freeing up money to do other things whether it is just the 3 of us or 4. This has made me realise that memories we make are the a very important thing.

RR you are spot on and I think my wife and I have lost sight of that with our 9yr old and let things go for an easy life. This situation has really opened my eyes so I got to make some changes, cars are not everything.

The Ed30 will be replaced with a Cupra R upto about 5k so I can still have some fun!! Will upgrade the wifes car for her and then make some good old family memories!

if very easy to loose sight of  your family when your working, you seem to get in a rut with work.I fell into this trap a few years ago, nearly bought a R32 (sat at the desk nearly putting pen to paper when my g/f rang to say she was pregnant) i kept my gttdi as i didn't want another 5 years of paying it of..and us as a family not spending time together..
Glad all went well this morning
