Back to kebabs! And bier!

Hey, I remember when custom code came onto the scene... it was after I got my Mk5 and joined uk-mkvs.net, because they appeared out of nowhere then. So it (probably) wasn't five years ago.

 :fighting:

Anyway.

Sorry to ask this but new to gti ownership and also looking into mapping my golf asap have tryed revo stage 1 trial but had a bit of an acident and getting a zorst (cat back) this week, so what mods do i need to go straight to stage 2, i have read i would need a hpfp to go 2+ but just looking for stage 2 mod requirements.

Oh and i would always follow the sheep with mods tryed and tested is always the best way  :happy2:

the only thin you NEED for stage 2 is a performance downpipe and cat(budget for around £450-£600)  and the stage 2 map.

ideally for good airflow in and out of the engine, a performance air intake is a good idea(budget £150-£350)

the perfomance cat back part of the exhaust wont give much in the way of power gains but you will get the noise side of it which some people.

then id be looking into chassis, brake mods.

^^^^
 You wouldn't be encouraging a site newcomer to spending their money on mods would you, Sy?

nope, this post is trying to save him some money
 :happy2:
you could just get a decat fitted instead (around £250) and the stage 2 map.

or even cheaper still.  get a garage to take off the std downpipe, remove the pre-cat next to the turbo with a hammer(his would still leave the 2nd cat in place for MOTs), and go stage 2.  im going to give it a try.  it wont ever be as good as a performance Dp it it would be a heck of alot better than std

this would cost you abou £35 for a garage to do

I have read that (cheap but crazy) i'm also no mechanic.

I think i may just get a custom map as i like the car and not overly bothered about breaking the 300bhp mark just feeling dull shall i say had a clio 182 before and power delivery was ALL GO but yet so much fun to drive with the golf having no lag it just dosen't really excite untill you look down and see how fast your really going

Oh and i'm more into styling than huge power gains but appreciate all the cars and information this forum has to offer  :happy2:

it would only cost you about 35-50 for a garage to do that.  its only 4 bolts and a clamp tp get it off.  an hours labour really
