Think I am getting old....

Just turned 40, and haven't ridden the Duke in over a year.  But don't have the heart to sell her.

You can't be careful enough M8

Top tips that have kept me safe over the years.

  • Always wear good kit EVERY time you ride.  Heard so many stories of accidents when nipping to the shops with just a helmet.
  • Always go at your own pace - pull over if the red mist gets you (if you can)
  • Always make sure your head light is on - not going to be a problem on such a nice new bike.
  • Rounderbouts nearly always have deisel spills.
  • At a junction always expect the driver to pull out.  Watch the wheels its the first thing on a car you will see move.

Good luck and keep safe

Thanks for the advice NC35, always appreciated.  :happy2:

I went into a bike shop on friday and asked for top quality kit, came out with a significantly lighter wallet along with Arai chaser, alpinestars RC1 leather jacket, AS A10 trousers, AS SMX plus, AS SP-1 gloves. I think I am have all I need to get going when I pass. The chap in the shop was surprised when I asked for the better stuff, he said new rider usually buy cheaper gear with minimal protection.  :stupid:

Again cheers for the advice, its always good to hear from experienced riders.  :drinking:

Should have added a back protector. Alpinestars will probably zip in else Hein Gerick stuff is great quality at a great price.

Finally sorry to ve a bore. IAM training is excellent. Not nerds sat a 30mph everywhere. Obsevation is everything.

Don't want to be a downer. Biking is excellent, going to get back out soon.

Have fun & stay safe  :happy2:

Bike Leathers are the best kit, been down the road in my Heine Ger's and hardly a mark on them :happy2: but if you like the denim look get some Draggin Jeans, lined with kevlar had a pair and liked them.

Very very jealous, looks great, I can't wait to get off my moped and on to a proper bike. Tell us how you get on with the modules when you've done 'em
