I too have noticed that.  Would be helpful if all signatures were binned?  Perhaps a trial period?  I wonder if we all had a 'weeding' session to delete old PM's, etc, it would assist? 

I am not IT trained, perhaps if anyone could expand on this?  Or tell me it would not work?

Fair points Dave, but it's not the pictures that are causing the general slowing down, these should only affect the speed at which certain points in a page loads.

Thats because the images are hosted on a another webserver (like photobucket) and will load as quickly as your connection will download them.

I am still working on finding the root cause of the peak time speed issues.

Sorry to report that after behaving well last few days it's back to rather extreme "Waiting.." following normal speed "Connecting.."

I've been in and out since this afternoon but randomly happening all day when I've been online.

It's as if the server can't cope with the traffic, but I'm only guessing.

Guys, think i may have found one of the reasons the forums has been going slow at times.
Have a check next time its going slow, and see if it coincides with somebody sending you a PM. 

Havn't got a clue how to fix it though.

I was going to say as much, its Photo bucket who is hosting the gif's all it is on the site is a link.

Just be patient chaps i have been getting slow speeds nearly all the time since the swap. PG is on it but he has a lot on in the real world at the moment.

lol, its not my puter! im running 2x3 GHz Quad core with 4gb ram! plus our speed here is 100mb...

just tested mine...
