Tyre recommendations

I'm currently running the Goodyear Eagle asymmetrics and doing over 20000 miles a year. Theres nothing wrong with these tyres as they have a lot of life in them along with decent levels of grip in the wet and dry. Just fancied a change next time and wanted peoples thoughts and preferences. Sacrificing maybe a little towards the harder compound tyres due to the commute over out right handling capabilities so no R888's and the like.

If you want harder wearing tyres I'd go with Contis but tbh, if it aint broke, dont fix it. Nothing wrong with the Goodyears.

my preferred tyre is the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 (or 3 once I get a pair to test)
however they only last around 10-12,000 miles for me, so if you wanted more the the Michelin Pilot Exaltos are much harder wearing.
my OE rears are still only half worn at 40,000 !

40, 000 - they must be solid rubber :-) mine still had 3 mm left at 13k but then I got an unfixable puncture so upgraded to PS3s.

Iv heard nothing but good things for the Vrederstein ultrac sessentas (or however they are spelt)
Came second in evo mags 2007 test against all the usual top stuff.

iv had a full set on mine for about 500miles now and can safely say they have as much grip as conti sport contact 2's and are far better in the wet imo. Although I feel they aren't as consistant as the contis on intial turn in but this may be due to the treads being on tip toes at the moment. Need to wear them down a little

^^^^  Same I've just fitted some of these to mine after struggling to get some Eagle F1 Assys, and they feel great! Very Quiet aswell in comparison to the Eagle F1's

But for the difference in cost (and taking into account the 20k p/a), hardly worth the upgrade from the GY's and don't wear any better. This isn't a performance question, its a durability one. I don't like Contis myself but they do wear well and for daily use would be well up to the job.

I replaced all 4 on ours with Yokohama Parada Spec 2's and it transformed the way the car drives and handles.

Highly recommended by me.

I agree the Vredesteins are a great all- rounder, very reasonably priced too. Much prefer them over the Dunlop Maxx TTs in terms of road noise, handling and they grip pretty well on a wet road.

OK so the goodyears seem a little hard to track down at the mo. The michelins seem a costly purchase, so its down to the vredersteins and paradas. The price looks good for the ultrac sessentas but are these a "soft" tyre. I don't fancy getting through two sets of tyres every year. Thanks for all the suggestions.

You could try the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A best of both worlds maybe, brilliant grip and a fair wear rating too.
