Centre Arm Rest
« on: June 10, 2010, 01:46:50 pm »
Hi guys,

My Centre armrest seems to have come a little loose as its squeeking and moving around a bit as i drive along and its driving me fecking nuts now. What i need to know is how do you get to the bits that hold it in place?
I am guessing whatever fixes it in to the car has come loose over time. I've tried to find a fitting guide but any links i eventually found seem to have died as they were pretty old.

Can someone let me know how to get to the bits to sort this or point me in the direction of a guide
Cheers!
Ant

Sure i'll find out at the weekend

Theres more than just 2 screws, there are two in the back where the cup holder is, and if you take the CD changer out then you find another one, but to get to them all you have to remove the plastic that slots over the top.

From memory (I had mine out 2 weekends ago) there is a screw at the from by the handbrake, one behind the handbrake leaver, one under the CD changer area, and two at the back by the base of the cup holder.

If your taking it to pieces first job is remove 2 screws holding the cup holder in place, then pull the cup holder out, pull off the rear vents/back, then the plastic surrond (top part) is held in place by two screws on the rear each side, and by a screw in the front recess  for the changer.

It probably worth removing the handbrake cover as well to avoid damage which is a tab on the under side then slide off.

Sorry for the lack of pictures, but if you pm me your email address I can send you a guide that I used (its for removing the whole tunnel gear stick back but details the removal of the arm-rest.
