Garage Recommendation
« on: June 08, 2010, 12:28:13 pm »
Not sure this is the right section, so apologies if not.

I’m after some recommendations for a garage in Leicestershire to fit a set of Eibach Sportslines to my mk2 Cupra. I was going to a local specialist, the only one I know of (won’t name at the minute) who had quoted 3 hours, which from what I’ve read is about right. Trouble is I’ve spoken to them today and there now saying it’s going to be at least 4 hours to do, after fitting a set of coilovers at the weekend and taking them over 5 hours! Speaking to Jabba, which is a little far away and can't get me in till July, they rekon 2-2.5 hours.

So suggestions for a localish place to get them done please, don’t mind travelling a bit, Nottingham, Derby say!

Cheers  :happy2:

I imagine your username is pretty much what you said when they told you...?

3 hours tops including the geo.

Perhaps the additional time is to cover the cost of carrying out a wheel alignment which is mandatory when working on suspension.

Also how old is the car - perhaps they are over estimating as they anticipate having to tackle siezed bolts and corrosion?

Just playing Devil's advocate  :happy2:
Only 250.1bhp - but with that noise, who cares?

Devil's advocate is certainly fair - but what's your gut feeling?

My guess is based on specialist doing this kind of work day in day out, a garage unfamiliar with Golfs I'd expect to take longer.
Sideways yo!

It's a 57plate Leon Cupra, done 30k, so not overly old. I thought 3 hours sounded fair, but at least 4 sounds like they expect it to be more and at £45/h + vat makes it at least £211.50. Awsome, correct me if I'm wrong do it, inc. geo for about £170ish. And the 5hour collies was on a mk2 cupra as well so they should know the car.

I've since spoken to Sport Tech and C&R in Nottingham and they both want about the same if not more. Think I'm just going to have to wait till the end of July which is when Jabba can get me in on a Saturday morning  :sad1:

Tried these? Not too far up the M1 and they look after Hurdy's beast.

Nope, didn't really want to travel that far, have heard of them, they did alot of work on dj's and owen's leons and they travelled all the way from Scotland.

Anyone used or heard of R-Tech Power in Hinckley, just spoke to them and they think about 3 hours, including geo @ £35/h inc. vat, thought that seemed a little cheap totalling £105.

They advertise over here uk-mkivs.net/forums/46946.aspx seems they've been getting some favourable reviews.

I'd say you'd be ok.  :happy2:

Going to keep looking, but R-Tech are looking good at the minute. Have you got an address for Statllers, can't seem to find one!

what about monster motorsport in leicester or Northampton motorsport in erm northampton ? I'd go to Jabba and then go over to the garden centre across the road and have breakfast .... and possibly dinner as there isn't much else to do around there.

Monster are the garage that I WAS going to! I'll give Northampton a ring today, see what they say! I'd go to Jabba, just don't want to wait till the end of July. Impatient I know!

Statllers is probably a bit far away unfortunatly, shame as they are highly reccomended.

Looks like I might be waiting till the end of July, Sportlines for the Cupra are on back order till mid July  :sad1:

I had booked in with Midland VW for a week tomorrow as well.
