Your best cinema experience
« on: June 14, 2010, 12:30:40 am »
I'm going to be one of the gheys and say ET. Was the perfect cinema movie in it's day, the whole seating engrossed, crying together and laughing together, and a mutual cheesy grin in the last minutes.

Avatar was good for the effects but nothing has beaten ET since I was 5 years old. My bro laughing when ET died will always be etched in my memory though.

What was your most satisfying cinema trip?

I wish I saw Saving Private Ryan at the big screen, that would have been imnense.

Not because of the film but because of the crowd watching it. A group decided to start making animal noises to which another group joined in and so on and so on...was highly amusing. This was all before the film started.

Was the latest Fast and the Furious FYI.

Ghostbusters I, Saturday afternoon in summer.

Me, my brother and a few friends as kids and the first time we'd been allowed to go to the cinema unaccompanied. It was a proper old cinema with a balcony and all the turn of the century charm you don't get these days. The cantankerous old lady selling popcorn and ice-creams, shining a light in your eyes and making everyone look at you with the loudest "HUSSSHHHHHHH" in the world.

Imagine the scene from Gremlins when they're all in the cinema watching Snow White. You get it?

We laughed like drains, gorged ourselves on sweets and pop, threw popcorn - it was great!!

At the end I threw up, having eaten too many sweets and it was green. Much to the amusement of my friends, cos I'd slimed the floor!!

To top it off, as the sea of us kids exited back into town the contrast between the darkness of the cinema and brightness of the sun was a little too much for some and there was much bumping and falling over.. capped by my brother walking into a lamp post and falling on his ass. I got the blame for the huge lump!!

Great times.
Sideways yo!

Mine would definitely be the Final Destination. Again not for the film but for the people watching it. Any of you who have watched it will know that there was a scene of a scantily dressed girls in her pants, and when she came on she came on the screen it sounded as if half of the guys watching jizzed their pants! It was brilliant, so many groans and wolf whistles when she walked on. And then they started making funny noises at the sex scene as well. And they laughed and took the piss when people died and it just made us all laugh as it was supposed to be gory but just wasn't!

A few years ago but Full Metal Jacket. The final scenes with them pined down with the sniper were fantastic.
