Personally I'd reckon on a strengthened E888 (MKVI) engine and a different turbo....maybe not the K04, but something along the lines of what APR use for their stage 3, but an OEM version that puts out 250ish horsies as stock, maybe the ACC as standard and hopefully some uprated brakes over the stock MKVI GTI.

I'd be amazed if they introduce a new turbo for a limited addition model John. They'll more than likely raid the VAG parts bin IMO. But if the ED30 is anything to go by, I doubt it'll be very limited..  :signLOL:

Widely available from Garrett already, so would be cheaper than a K04 :jumping:
Golf R gone.

So... wish list really is similar to the Ed30 over the GTI

Brakes
Turbo
Wheels
LED lights
some fancy interior changes
maybe R side skirts

Yep, that would tempt me alright :happy2:

TBH I think that would temp me more than an R, saves having to explain what the R is  everyone knows what a GTI is  :happy2:

By the time this comes out though there will be a new S3 (maybe) also the current R will be a lot cheaper, easily tuned and 4wd so not sure if the ED35 would be that tempting, could it be better than the Ed30 even or the Rocco R is you really want FWD, as that will also be cheaper.

If were looking at next year and your tempted with the Ed35 then I doubt you would even look at a 4-5yr old Ed30 as an alternative.

new S3 will be nice but this no doubt will be R or more money I expect.

The point that pulls me back towards the Golf currently is its the latest model.

Yes but the mk6 is going to be a short run model, the mk7 will seriously knock prices! Also i wonder if the ed35 will be mk7 guise or mk6?

....At this stage people can, and will, only speculate. But historically I think I'm right in suggesting a peep at the Paris show in September.

But surely that would be September 2011 with availability Spring 2012. I think there's new legislation for manufacturers to incorporate for 2012 as well, so it would make sense to include on the new versions.

so the answer is no... lets not get carried away or you'll always be waiting for the next model.

Why wait for the mk7, the mk8 will be round the corner  :P

....So true! There's always a new version of any and every thing just over the horizon, cars, computers, you name it. The trick is to be interested but happy with what you've got rather than what you haven't got.

There is another version of the TFSI lump listed on ETKA (as well as some GTI "Edition" parts, for example the R LED tails are now listed for Golf R and GTI "Edition").

So I think it's on it's way very soon  :happy2:

....Could this be the Golf GTI Excessive which was shown at Worthensee last month?

The Excessive is also featured in the latest July issue of VolkswagenDriver magazine.

Whatever VW do its gonna be a mega car, no one can say the edition 30 is crap  :signLOL:

If it had half the bits mentioned in some of these posts i'd sign on the line straight away.
Until recentley i was considering selling my edition 30 but after a good few drives over the last week....im keeping it a bit longer...until i hear more "officially" about the 35th anniversary anyway!

Dont foget the RS3  :popcornsoda:

The RS3 will be a totally different market IMO to the ED35 (if it happens). If the RS3 is below £45k (with just a couple of options)i'd be very very suprised.
With regards to waiting for new models to come out (Mk7), it's never been something that has bothered me to much as I never tend to go for the first/new model of the GTI etc as manufactures always seem to bring out a better uprated models further down the line of that Mk (ie Ed30/Pirelli). Renault are the masters of this..

As Ben says. Also, with a new Mk version it's wise to leave it a year for the manufacturer to iron out any teething problems. The Mk6 is different cos it's really a Mk5.5  :P

Everyone on the S3 forum is thinking its the new S3 and not the RS3
