White Mk5 GTI at the world cup.
« on: June 15, 2010, 03:26:21 pm »
I was watching the  BBC six oclock news last night, and they were interviewing a fan, just behind him pulls up a GTI with Monza II wheels.  :pomppomp:

Not funny or true.

Come to SA. Every second car here is a GTI and a BMW 3 series.

One of the most common cars around... Even our cops and traffic services use MK5 and MK6 GTI's in full house spec.

No PAS. No ESP. No DSC. No TCS. No ABS. Just my right foot between me and oblivion. Oh - And a seatbelt.

Sorry Steve.

Getting p*ssed off at all the foreigners taking a swing at SA - be it tongue in cheek or "humour" at every opportunity.

Especially when they know absolutely nothing about our country and have never been here.

Its a CCT Metro Officers car.

Also known as Ghost cars in SA. Essentially stock standard MK5 and MK6 GTI's but at a flip of a switch LED lights behind the grills, roof liner and front windows come on as well as a siren. The officers driving can stop anyone if they break the law and fine on the spot. Only way you can tell its a CCT car is to check the reg plate. It ends with CCT.

In CPT we also have Astra ghost cars as well as BMW tourers (Bikes) and a M6 for high pursuit driving.

In JHB we have a modded matte black R26 (or whatever it is) for high speed pursuit and the same MK5 and MK6 GTI's.

It was implemented at the end of last year. If you have every experienced our taxi's down here you will see why they work so well.  :innocent:
