discs and pads
« on: June 18, 2010, 12:00:15 pm »
If I require some discs and pads, stock oem from VW (supply and fit by VW main stealer)...Does anyone have an idea what to ecpect in terms of cost?

My car is in for a service today, but reckon they may come back and suggest new pads at a minimum..99% I will get any advisory work done at an indy but just wondered what the costs are, if anyone here has done so?

Have had no issues with the brakes (dont drive her that hard) but reckon being 4years 6months old its probably due a change soon...if I am going to an indy reckon I may fit better after market pads if anyone recommends them but keep hearing redstuff/ yellowstuff people moaning about to much dust.... :popcornsoda:

Try here, they do the OEM stuff:- http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Golf_2.0_2006/p/Car-Parts/Brakes

There's a massive one just past Cowcaddens in Glasgow.  :happy2:

So front front discs and brakes needed plus rear pad. Checked prices at Indy £175 for front and £75 plus vat... Seems dear ro me. So I went to vw they quoted £223 inluding vat..... So as much as i hate the big boys i can't complain about £70 in my pocket.... :rolleye:

Went in today to get these fitted, I asked them to confirm the costs and that these indeed were VW genuine parts that were getting fitted....

They said £270 (ish) for the job....i said whooooaaaa there Donkey....I was quoted £223....they made a mistake apparently...however i said, no hold on, you quoted, I accepted thats why I am here I expect the job for the quoted amount....they agreed and I am getting the work done for the lower value  :drinking:

Not quite an ed30 spoiler for £16 but a small victory nonetheless.

Anyone any idea how long they take to bed in?
