Help fitting a DBilas Intake for PD140!
« on: June 21, 2010, 08:35:07 pm »
Hi All,

Just recently purchased the DBilas air intake for my 2.0 TDI to replace my BMC CDA as I felt the BMC CDA was taking cold as well as hot air. Unfortunately, the DBilas didn't come with any fitting instructions at all. Can anyone help at all?
I know that some of the ED30/GTI/Cupra boys have had the DBilas intakes for their cars and that fitting the intake from the front of the car is similar.
I take it the two metal clips at the front of the intake just screw into the holes that are already there for the OEM intake?
Also can anyone tell me how to remove this damm clamp that is at the MAF??

This is what its supposed to look like fitted:

Thanks!
Alex

Hahahaha I remember trying to take that off when I wanted to change the filter. Was almost as impossible as trying to take the engine cover off.

This is what I used: clicky

Made life sooooooooo much easier.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I was in Halfords yesterday picking up a set of Laser Hose Clip pliers, damm should have gotten the these instead!

I had this problem when fitting my air intake. Though being the GTI engine the clip was right at the back of hte engine, and really difficult to get to. In the end I just got the longest pliers I could find and bent the hell out of the clip until it lost its shape and fell off,  cut the hell out of my fingers though!
