Am I blowing off?
« on: June 24, 2010, 02:13:09 pm »
Advice required from Evoms owners, or anyone in the know!  I was out in the car earlier enjoying the weather with all the windows down fully accepting the dulcet tones emanating from my Evoms when I noticed a new noise, as I change gear I get an almighty whosssssssssssh!!!
Now coming from the Cossie generation and having had several cars with atmospheric dump valves I have to say that is what it sounded like.  I am aware of problems with the earlier DV's and had planned to upgrade mine to the Rev' 4 in the next few weeks, but this aside, do you think I'm hearing a blown DV, or should the Evoms make that sound?

Mines bog standard and thats normal when throttling off after boosting.   Just probably got louders since your modification, or is it the first time driving with the windows down and without the stereo on????

I've got a standard, by not for long, Edtion 30 with an evoms recently fitted and I can hear the DV quite loudly. On the Edition 30 the DV is located remotely so I suspect it's louder than on a K03 car that has the DV located on the turbo itself.

Sounds like it normal to me  :happy2:

You could always replace the DV with the uprated 'D' version, would be good preventative measure as the earlier versions have been known to split.

Thinking about it......yes it probably is.  I will be getting the uprated DV anyway, which will be fitted when my mechanic combines hammer with pre-cat!  :happy2: I will update the post accordingly.
