new disks and pads

hello all,

can anyone recommend new pads and disks for my gti, its remaped to 265 bhp, n i do drive quick and brake late on the road, silly i no, and i think the oem brakes arnt that good :(, i had redstuff on my old focus and loved them apart from them eating my disks, was thinking mintex but have heard mixed reviews about them :(.

any help would be much apprechiated

I know some peeps have gone for the R32 brake setup. Do a search and you should find some info. Standard brakes are good for 200bhp IMHO.

Having the brake fluid service done made a difference for me, brakes were a lot sharper on my 4 year old.

I know S2 Ant has R32 brakes on his I think. Might be worth asking him his opinion.

Mine had the .:R32 setup on the car when i got it, but i believe its running Yellow Stuff pads front and rear - disks i presume are OEM.
Smudge could tell you more as it was his previously.

new discs wont help with braking power, id just stick with oem.  change the pads o something with a better compound like ferrodo DS2500 or similar.

I've got the .:R32 front setup on my vRS (Same engine) which is REVO Stage 2+

I don't do track days etc but for normal use they are a massive difference over OEM imho.

I'm not sure how the cost of Yellow Stuff compares to the Ferodo pads, but the brakes on my car are very sharp indeed. I also dont do track days, but for day to day stuff and some "fun" driving from time to time they are more than good enough and i dont think they're too dusty either.

I think your discs are not standard as they did seem much larger compared to those on my bog standard setup GTi. Could be wrong but they did seem to fill the whole wheel. Yellow stuff pads are designed to be less dusty too.

From what I have read the R32/S3/CupraR setup seems to be the  best value £.
