How to remove cover - top vents
« on: July 01, 2010, 04:00:55 pm »
Hi Guys,

I have a rattle coming from the cover on the dash for the top, centre vents.  The arrow on the picture below is pointing to the cover i mean:

Not my car, just using this as a reference.

Does anyone know how to safely remove the mesh cover covering these vents?  There is a small gap and i thought I could gently use a flat screwdriver head to lift it off.  Unsure if it clips off or not.

Any help would be appreciated.

.
I managed it very easily with a blunt round ended kitchen knife of the dining kind.

There's some info in this How-to-Guide:  http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,14941.0.html

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I use my fingers, (don't have long nails!) and it comes off pretty easily, but then when you get to taking off the stereo surround area be cateful as the clips on that are stupidly brittle!
