Auto headlights head scratch
« on: July 03, 2010, 08:43:02 pm »
With the sun blazing in the sky today the last thing i expected to see was my auto headlights coming on and staying on  :stupid:
Have tried turning them on and off again but put them into the auto position and they ping on again!
Any ideas fellas?

I remember someone else posting about this a year ago.

Anyway, either the sunlight screws up the sensor or it's to improve visibility of your car given that sun glare may make it difficult for others to spot you.

I'm making that up. Probably.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I know mine come on a lot in the winter when the sun is low in the sky and I'm heading towards it.  IIRC the system uses the front facing sensor and the rear facing one (for the auto dip mirror) to decide if there is glare as Stealth says...
