Sorry chaps....
Put your trust in god and Pratt & Whitney.....
Not a bad show though
Only thing with PnW Dave is that they have to be given technology by RR. The engines for the Joint strike fighter are all RR, the PnW units could not get near the thrust levels and the cried to Congress who told RR that they must share the technology or not get the contract.
RR all the way for me, my brother works for RR and the other year they shut the factory on a saturday and let workers take family around it was truely awesome.
Makes you proud to be British.
Im totally pro british and a RR Fan but dont forget without the Government bung they would have dissapeared into the ether 35 years ago, collaboration and tech-share is underpinning the global aerospace industry at the moment, if done correctly nobody loses both in a corporate sense and financially.
Current technology's in aerospace are coming to a point, thats to say wing/engine design are all getting pretty much aligned as with the amount of computing and simulation available everybody is pretty much in the broader sesign sense going to come up with the same answers - pretty much like cars look alike. It pays dividends to deploy your people into the next generation of technology and I dont mean technology that is flying today, I mean the blue sky stuff 2030 and beyond military and civil.
Yep RR build the Glamour Engines but consider nearly every small turboprop on the planet has a P&WC PT6 in it from 500-2000SHP, thats why they have engines with 300 million fleet hours as oposed to the Trents.........10 million fleet hours.
RR did get a coup with the triple spool concept but the trent's heritage goes way way back
Long live RR- its a british institution but remember...........
