Sparkplugs as well as Ignition Coils?????
« on: January 04, 2012, 07:03:15 pm »
A few weeks ago my ED30 started to misfire a little in the mornings on the way to work and then the morning after a 150mile trip it started to misfire like crazy (with engine warning light flashing).

Yesterday I changed all 4 coil packs and its loads better and I've no loss it power when warm. However, I still have a noticeable misfire when the engine is cold.

Should I have changed the sparkplugs when changing the ignition coils?
If so should I stick with OEM plugs or go for something more fancy?
or
Should I just bite the bullet and take it to the dealers (they've quoted £65 minimum to find the problem).

My ED30 is 4.5 years old, totally standard with DSG box and its covered 47,000 miles.

Many Thanks in advance.

Yup, change the plugs as well and oem ones will be fine for an unmodded car.

Cheers.....

Changed the plugs and the misfire when driving has gone but there is still a cough when idling but I can live with that until its next service.

Thanks again.

x2 Worth looking into. Cheap enough fix if you go OEM.

Have a look at this if you want to look into it
