Detailed the Edition 30
« on: July 05, 2010, 10:17:28 pm »
Hey guys

This was my first ever attempt on VAG paint and first ever correction of my new car, and I must say, I wasn't prepared. Took about 9 hours from wash stage to wiping the last bit of residue dust off.

Managed to get about 75% swirl correction. I could have done with a harsher pad i think.

Products used were:

Valet Pro - PH Neutral Snow Foam
Chemical guys- Citrus was and gloss
CYC- Fine poly clay
Menzerna Orange Cutting pad
Menzerna Power finish
Menzerna Final finish
Country lake fine polish pad
Collinite 476 wax
Dodo juice - Red mist

Unfortunatley the SD card wasnt plugged in for the correction shots!!:mad::doublesho

Here are some finished ones though :thumb:

Let me know what you think.

Thanks :)

If you managed to get to the end.

Congratulations!!

Comments and criticisms more than welcome!

The guy that sold the car removed it first apparently.

Are they easy to get hold of?

..........wonder why he took it out ?. I would try ebay or the breakers yards for a replacment as they cost a bomb from the dealers, i think the tubing for the rear air con vens can be a twat as well when you retro fit the arm rest.

I think VW do an i pod connecter for the arm rest but don't know what that is like to fit. The arm rest in mine has the orginal 6 disc cd changer in which i like as i can't get on with those i pod things, hate those little speakers in my ears

It definitely had the armrest factory fitted because I remember a private seller selling the car for a sum (won't disclose for you OP) and seeing it there. Plus it has the slider cup holder which comes with the armrest. It could be worth a few bob on its own or he's putting it in the other car as you said. The vents etc will already be there because I think he probably just unscrewed the armrest bit. I think the whole kit is £150+. Not sure if you can buy the armrest separately but always worth a try because it looks naked without it.

Wow, the car looks fab! I can see why it took you 9 hours!  :congrats:

I don't suppose you purchased this car from a garage in Kent did you? It looks like the car that I was looking to buy before I got mine, and like you said, the garage told me the owner had traded this in for a manual ed30.

No, of course not! It honestly looks lovely.

It was just one of the potentials out of a few, I remember seeing it on Autotrader and thinking 'yeah, that's a good price', phoned them up and asked them the usual questions... then the bloke got a bit cocky/offended when I asked why it was at this price! Ooops!

My bf has a red mk4 and I can see the efforts he has to go through to keep the paintwork looking *red*.  :scared: I can't say I've got that sort of enthusiasm!

I was ideally looking for a 5 door anyway with RNS already in it as I can't see me trying to retrofit one (or anything actually!).

Well in that case i'll let you off

Yeah the radio is already annoying me, I've always had aftermarket head units in the past.

Is it possible to connect it to my iPhone?
