Farnborough Airshow anyone??? 19th to 25th July
« on: July 06, 2010, 12:38:49 pm »
Never been despite it being on the doorstep.  :sad1:

As the old girl is back in the air I have decided this year will be the one for me.
So after an initial scare of giving my wrong credit card details a ticket for Friday should be winging its way to me. Friday is billed as an enthusiasts day compared to Satdee or Sundee which are general public days.

Can't wait.

Friday tickets are a bit special. Basically you need to become a Friend of Farnborough and then select the Enthusiasts package.
Its £45 which includes a Grandstand seat and free programme.

The Friday is still shown as a trade day however this means it should be quieter with less public around. The air display is extended along the lines of a normal public day. :happy2:

We've got jets flying all over our office!
Yesterday there was what appeared to be a Tornado (couldn't tell what variety), an F-22 practicing stunts which was super cool, a B52 inbound, and over J4 of the M3 a couple of Apache Longbows lighting everyone up with targetting lasers  :scared:

Something else is making ridiculous amounts of noise right now outside, but I can't see from our lab what it is. Noise is bloody distracting! Especially as I've got a shedload of work on my desk!

The Vulcan should visit today to do its validation displays but not airborne yet.

Meant to have been here 1120 - but hasn't flow by yet. I imagine we'll be able to hear that for a few miles around.

She just came thundering past a couple of minutes ago. Got a good view of her from my lab window.

There's a Typhoon playing around up there now.

Had a good look at her, V close up, cracking, but no camera on me, perks of working at VL. Not sure why she didn't make the 1050 launch, but it was broadcast across the base as a 'delay'.

Very wet and windy over this neck of the woods at the moment so I hope they are just playing it safe.

As for no camera.  :fighting:

There on the Friday on the Royce's stand, We've got an early start to the show with a low altitude fly over at work from the 787 accompanied by a Spitfire and Hurricane. Should be sweet  :happy2:
If you have to ask why, you'll never understand.
