Where to buy VCDS?
« on: July 06, 2010, 01:51:47 pm »
Where's the best place? Will it work on Audis and VWs? How much is the going price?

(Mods apologies if this is the wrong section but it's related to Mk5s)

Thanks, I wasn't sure if there was a local supplier but might uswel get it from there. Is it the hex-com +can that's needed for the Mk5 Golf and Audi A3? (will it work in the Audi?)

Yes, that's the one full hex/can don;t get the micro-can. Full compatibility across all VAG platforms.

Sounds good, is it around £250? Do you buy the license and that's it? Or is it a yearly subscription?

All you need is the cable and all the software updates are free from Ross Tech.

Thought there was about £100 difference between the two cables?  If you are just a DIY MK5 enthusiast micro-can is probably ideal.

It's what I bought, as I have no intention of buying an older car...

The MicroCan is cheaper but has some limitations.  These wouldn't normally affect the casual home user.

I believe there is a lack of Turbo mode in measuring blocks (higher sampling rate).
