Advice on new GTI please!

Hi all!

Have been looking for the right GTI to come along for a while now, and following this site in envy wanting to get involved!! Thankfully the wait is over and think I have found it......Well I hope so as I'm picking it up on Sunday! 

Would appreciate some advice from the floor on things to look for before I pick her up, or any hangling tools I can use to shave a bit more off the price! Think its already a pretty good deal and a great spec-hopefully you guys agree?

Damn, nice toys on that mate. Interesting you bought with these guys as they never called me back 3 times about an ED30 ..so I gave up.



If you don't mind I'd be interested if you could give me an idea what you managed to negotiate off in PM. The reason I ask is that I'm currently after a gti with citygate ruislip.

I notice it says it has the 18" monza II's but they look more like the 17" monza's to me ... just so you know.  Maybe worth a shot as a bartering tool.

Maybe they've been refurbished with the wrong finish? Either way a negotiating tool like UB7RM says.

^^^ Nah, dude. The profile on the tyres looks too big to be the 18"s.  Nice spec, otherwise.

good luck with it, looks a nice car but i would be sceptical. low milage is a positive but still seems high price for the age of the car, i would be looking at paying no more than 11k. check the value of the car though glasses first. im sorry to be negative but i have had a couple of issues with citygate recently and have been very careful around them and wount buy a car there now as after my issues i spoke to VW head office who told me to use other dealers in future because they have had a lot of complaints. currently VW are reviewing the status of citygate because they owe VW a lot of money. this is from the horses mouth so i would advise people to tread carefully at this point in time with citygate as it sounds like they are about to be removed from the network.

Hmmmm, interesting thanks for the advice. So far they have been pretty good, but i'll stay on my toes!

As for the price, i thought it was pretty good as its VW approved, well speced and low milage for age (also the number plate comes with the car! Maybe worth £400?) But im not really sure how much difference the spec makes? Also can anyone tell me when are the big services due, how much they cost and if there were any recalls/update work the car should have had?
