Hot air intake is not an issue to be concerned about, the VF and EVOMS both have access to outside air from the OEM slot. The VF kit forms a large box scoop/container for the outside air when the bonnet is closed, and has a smooth route all the way to the turbo inlet for air flow.
As for making a decision, at the end of the day its horses for courses. Cost? Performance? Looks? Sound? Most people seem happy with their choices, so they all seem to work. I added my VF kit after a remap and performance downpipe and noticed a gain in throttle response and grunt. I feel the difference would not have been as noticable without the prior mods. A more enclosed filter would be quieter. I went for the VF because it appeared to be good quality and had good reviews.
