....Milltek are one of the VW Racing Cup sponsors. VWR/RacingLine use Millteks and their 300R's is a custom Milltek. The racing Caddy has Millteks too. VWR/RL do a fair bit of development work and have lots of experience to contribute and so have 'technical partnerships' with several specialists. The result is their own branded versions (such as my VWR-KW-V3's which have quite a lot of differences from usual KW-V3's)

Off topic, but relating to my visit to the tuners, they were talking to me about an Edition 30 they'd been tunnig for a crazy old man(63), they'd mananged to map it to 367bhp, they said it was far too much, but he insisted.  Seen the rolling road results which obviously need to be looked at with some scepticism, but they are known for giving reasonably accurate output.

Seems a bit OTT and the owner seemingly drives like a nutcase, so he could soon be a road death statistic!

....I'll be 62 in a couple of months, so I was amused by these words. I'm satisfied with about 240 bhp on a fairly heavily modified but well balanced GTI. But how old are people like Derek Bell, and they are doubtless still far better drivers than nearly everyone on here.

Davy,

I was both surprised and disappointed to read your post expressing your dissatisfaction with Milltek.

I do not work for Milltek nor have any vested interest but it's not a secret that I enjoy a close relationship with them and highly rate their products and working ethos, and so I decided to look into your case. My main intention being to establish if Milltek were being judged unfairly or not and to discover an unbiassed truth. I know for certain that if Milltek were at fault they would want to know and do what they could to improve their services.

There are two sides to every story and it does seem to me that perhaps it's your dealer who should take most of the blame, although I am sure there were no bad intentions on his behalf.

- You ordered your exhaust from a dealer and not from Milltek direct.

- Your dealer was informed when the order was placed that Milltek were out of stock of one of the parts.

- Milltek were not informed that your installation had been booked for any particular date and so could not be fairly expected to meet a date unknown to themselves.

So, in fairness, I really don't believe that Milltek are at fault to the extent which your post suggests. I do understand your frustration with the results though.

It appears that, until you posted this thread, your dealer was not aware of your dissatisfaction and so can hardly have been expected to offer any 'gestures'.

Milltek exhausts are without doubt excellent and I think they are probably the only ones which achieve that balance of not sounding boy-racer at low revs but screaming like a good 'un when being driven enthusiastically. But sound is very subjective and we all have different preferences.

At this stage, much of this is now academic but, as I said, there are two sides to every story and I write this in the interests of fairness.

Robin i dont understand why every time anyone posts a problem up with a Milltek product you always defend them to the hilt.  :chicken:
Milltek are the market leader for a reason and unless you live on the moon almost every one will know the product is excellent. However they are bound to make a few mistakes from time to time. In my opinion with a post like the above you make it worse for Milltek as DaveP clearly posted that Milltek had accepted responsibility for the mistake, and yet you chose to ignore this and blame his dealer.
Its quite clear that all of your experiences with the company have been excellent, this however does not mean that it is the same for every one, people are allowed to share there experiences on here good or bad. The fairness comes from people posting good and bad. In my opinion it is not in the interest of fairness for you to twist his account of what happened.

I'd sorta worked out through my time as a lurker both here and on golfgti.co.etc that Robin was a Milltek "fanboy" and would put as much effort into defending Milltek as a Nazi does in denying the holocaust.  He's that age if hes not ranting at the TV he'll com on here to moan and stir :signLOL:

TBH I'm suprised it took so long  :signLOL:, and although I took it with a pinch of salt, I think opinions and third hand accounts don't mean that the following  quote rings true ................ "At this stage, much of this is now academic but, as I said, there are two sides to every story and I write this in the interests of fairness."

It is FACT - Milltek messed up my order,  FACT - I wasted 2 days leave, FACT - Milltek accepted responsiblility for doing so; and it can't be spun any other way.

As previously mentioned I had a damaged Milltek delivered for my VXR Astra, so I guess I'm not new to the occasional failing by Milltek, how-ever I gave them another go and was let down again.   TBH i'm not bothered that much now, I bought a huge Plasma TV instead and will more than likely await the Blueflame developements.

That is all...... :P
