Help ESP light stays on.
« on: July 05, 2010, 10:01:10 am »
Not sure which section to post on cause it relates to my 2006 VW Jetta 1.9TDI. Coming to work this morning the ESP light remained on.

Any ideas? it was okay last time I used the car.

Will check the ABS fuses lunch time at work but if they are okay Im stumped!

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers :sad1:

It could be the dreaded Teves MK60 ESP problem, I suggest you get the fault code read using VAGCOM ect.
For more info read this : http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/caradvice/honestjohn/7844231/Beware-cars-fitted-with-Teves-Mk60-ABSESP-systems-Honest-John.html

You have that module!   :scared:

Get the car scanned as it may just be a faulty abs sensor.
Without traction power is nothing!

Don't jump ahead of yourself, first get the car scanned then move on from there.

Its the dreaded ESP system, quoted between £1200 & £1500 beware all that use this system!!

On the plus side and after a bit of negotiation (Press Clippings etc etc) VW have agreed to pay for the part £700 plus vat and 50% of the labour to fit it.

Final bill to be £176.00,. Result I think especially as out of warranty by 9 months and I serviced it myself albeit using VW parts and kept the receipt.

Well happy could of been a lot worse.
