Righto oh, Red it is.  I like Yellow and I think on a black car would be nice but with the GTI having the hint of red already I think it has to be red.

You could change the front lip to match the calipers but this is moving away from the GTI look - now JPC with his white lip with white calipers would be well suited - probably no harder that red to keep clean if you get a good base down.

I'd have considered gold.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I think I've got a can of caliper paint in red. If you want it I'll dig it out and you can have it for free at the Pod. Full tin too (unless I've chucked it!) :rolleye:

I got mine powder coated, you can seperate the caliper from the mount to make it neater for painting.I rubbed them down with wire wool after cleaning them, split them and hand painted 1st with halfrauds brake caliper paint. I wasn't happy with the finish so sent to the p/coaters.
How about Silver? look good on the ones i have just done for my mk2.

So you split the caliper?  might give that a go.

In fact I have to work out how to dissasemble the complete unit yet - how does the carrier come away from the caliper?

Hurdy, yeh- that would be handy - very nice of you chap!

In the first pic you undo the 4 big torq screws, they were a real swine to get off.
this bit houses the piston, the carriers were easy enough I even painted the pin that holds the brake pads in, did the heat res silver.

ye those four big ones are a pain. there t55 i think as well so youll need a good half inch torque spanner and to get a t55 bit from somewhere

That would look the bollocks if you got it right. There was a Volkswagen/APR project car in America that had the calipers painted in the yellow, red and black of the German flag  :rolleye:

I'd be slightly worried about white discolouring with the heat and going cream/yellow.
Sideways yo!
