However much the ED30 is good, I cannot believe you are getting rid of the Porsche for one!

Good man
A much more practical car for the family man
Look foward to hearing your thoughts chap
Any colour spec you care to share?
A friend of mine is having to shift his porsche on, its a Carrera 4, 3.6, with a faulty tiptronic gearbox, and has been quoted £5500 to fix it

Get the Eddy Mapped with CC and it will be as fast as the Porker!
Obvious statement time, The Porker will always be a more focused drive but the Golf will always be a very very good jack of all trades.
Enjoy matey. The MPG sounds hellish!

fairly sad to let go of 911 ,but hey what a car the ed30 is
remapped to 260 bhp ,milltek exhaust (great sound) steel grey
obviously different to the porsche but to be honest a 996 turbo is too insane
sometimes, the ed30 brakes are way better & initially it feels more responsive
need to to get used to dsg box though
more fun n maybe pics tomoz
back to garage mow tho

Your Porker brakes are worse than the Ed30's? I had an Ed30, brakes were not up to the standard of the car (Mine was not mapped) in my opinion. I upgraded my Ed30 brakes to the 996 Twin Turbo calipers (some slight mods required), and they were fantastic. Even better allied with S3 rears fitted.
I have a Cayman S now, and the anchors are fantastic, straight out of the box.
Quite a few of the Gti owners in both guises have upgraded their brakes.
Enjoy the car, and as per the rules - get some pics up!

I always thought they were pretty decent...havent tested them against anything better on the market but after a remap they are defo not up to standard. Had a scary moment when I had the trial map on mine
Nice to see someone coming from a Porker to VW rather than all the other traitors on here

If you'd have kept the 996T you could have joined my exclusive club of Pork and Golf
However, my GT3 is wanting its 4 year major service soon and my GTI is wanting some new boots.
No spare £££££ for me anytime soon

Im sure you will love the Golf as much as the porsche but in a different way. as you say, it seems it will suit your requirements now much better.
When you get it remapped, you wont believe how fast they can be!
