Thinking of returning iPhone 4
« on: July 13, 2010, 08:10:57 am »
 :sad1:

I love it but.. Bought a bumper and I can STILL lose signal by holding it "the wrong way"

I reckon apple will affect a fix soon though or do a recall...not sure what to do for the best.  :scared:

Keep it!
Software update wont fix the issue, but will ensure the bars displayed are more accurate etc.
Use the phone normally - I dont understand why people keep doing the 'death grip' in the first place - surely thats not how you would hold the phone under normal usage anyways? When I get mine I wont even test it that way, I'll use it normally (Im right handed anyway, which will help I guess!), and see how I get on.

Gotta be honest the reception issue is really starting to get on my tits too!  :fighting:

I've droppped far more calls with the 4 and sat in my lounge I can't send a txt unless I put the phone down then retry!  :stupid: Not good as I never had these issues with my 3GS. Was contemplating switching back..................

Got to admit I am really suprised and dissapointed about this signal issue, one of the big things about the iP4 was better reception.

Dont see a software update being able to fix it.

Whens the next one coming out ...

Software update won't actually fix the issue, it'll just make it seem less bad. Point is that both Anandtech and researcher at Cardiff University independently found a roughly -19dB attenuation when the iPhone 4 is held such that the two antennae are bridged. That's a 4x loss of signal! (Remember that dB is a logarithmic scale).

My dad's getting really peed off with his iPhone 4s - he's considering swapping one for an HTC Desire. He's an Apple guy through and through so that speaks volumes!
