Hi all, I am having some issues trying to get the telephone button on my MFSW to answer and hang up calls, firstly going to outline exactly what I have:

RNS510 - 1T0 035 680 B -  firmware 0900 - retrofitted - coded 04000400040000AE00

Steering wheel control module - 1K0 953 549 AG - original - coded 0012142

Skoda bluetooth - 1Z0 035 729 B - retrofitted - coded 0000422

CAN Gateway - 1K0 907 530 F - original - 7F3F03C8070003

Buttons are plastic post 2006 type with the single telephone button, car is 2005 has mid-line computer and has always had DSG paddles.

From my own research I know that some (saint steve) had a similar problem where they tried changing the steering wheel control module or can gateway, but the thread finishes without reaching a conclusion on what fixed the issues.

I do have a couple of common errors across the telephone navigation and can gateway:

And these were also seen by Hedge on Saint Steves car.  Does anyone have any thoughts on resolving this problem?  either coding, or module replacement?

the errorcodes is caused by your can bus gateway that is to old for both the rns and bt. i have just installed a revision K canbus gateway which have cleared the fault codes, so can bus should be your first stop. as i have the mk 6 MFSW i can't help reg. the button, but on the mk 6 sw i use ok button to recieve and hang up calls. hope this helps a bit??  :drinking:

Cheers Danish, the canbus is on the list to replace as I would like to update the RNS firmware.  so that is another plus from making the change, hopefully someone will be along to let me know if this should also sort the button issue.

I think some of those codes might be due to a poor connection on the CANbus where the phone is wired in.  I don't know if you'll get the phone button to work.  Changing the coding on the Steering Controller for CC will make the Star button act as the phone button as shown in the guide on my website.

Thanks Stu,  Will check the wiring and try to make sure there is a good connection.  I changed the coding on the steering controller last night, and the star button went from mute to voice control so both the 2 and 4 configuration.  I also dont have the phone book in the module to use voice dialing but think this might be a phone and RNS issue rather than something related to these issues.

I did use your guide to fit the unit so a big thank you for the excellent site  :notworthy:  Do you know what the issue is with the phone button is it just the button and signal being different between the VW and Skoda kit, for example if I had put the VW equivalent in the car I wouldnt be having this issue (although my phone wouldnt have worked with it!  )

I think it's just something to do with the software of the MFSW not utilising the function of voice control.

I dont think you will get the phone button to work as its a skoda kit you are using in a vw,ive been trying for years to get it to work,if it was a vw phone kit it would work fine :happy2:
