Very Interesting thread this. I'm a bit like RICHN83 here in that I'm running a version 1100 firmware in my Rev B unit, as my GT TDI is a 2005 model with a lowly revision "E" Can Gateway.

Would love to get a later firmware and have the larger SDHC card support and road speeds without having to shell out on a new CAN Gateway.

Will watch this thread with interest.......

Like I said in the top of the thread, this is a Version c LED running 2680 !

Just need someone who has had the battery drain to tell us how long it took to go dead ???

24 hours and ok, that certainly sounds like good news, I never managed to find the exact answer to how long it took to die, and I suppose it would vary on the condition of the battery and recent usage, long journeys to get battery topped up etc.  But it is certainly looking good, so fingers crossed!

And it is the best bit of kit, if you havent get yourself a copy of the v6 maps with speed camera positions, its a very useful feature especially when considering over-taking maneuvers on country roads that you dont know!

P.S If it does not drain my battery please can you all transfer the money you were going to spend on new Can Bus Gateway's into my account, would be great to have some holiday money !!!

it needs to be added to the map file, as a Point Of Interest file its not like having a road angel or anything but it displays the position on the screen.

Do i do this on the sat nav itself ???

or do i need a disc ? my maps was already on the hard drive with no disc !

You would need to replace the map file, which is a disc that you install that can then be used to over-write the HDD map file.  I have a copy which I used for mine.  I will still need it especially if I update the firmware, but can try and arrange to either lend it to you or if your local meet up to install it.

Would only charge you the cost of a canbus, that I didnt have to buy

Hi guys sorry to threadjack but on topic. I am contemplating buying 182s revA with software 2680. I have a MY06 gti, so most likely the old canbus. From the above I'm confused whether I would need to downgrade the firmware to 1100 to avoid the battery drain issues or not? And if I do is there any real features I'm going to lose out on.

I'm thinking I should hang around for the revC with the led screen, take it the display is superior?

I dont know   VRS Carl or Darren would be able to answer you on the software side !

With regards to the screen I have not seen any other screen but can honestly say the LED is brilliant !

Darren has offered to fit it for you I seem to remember from the for sale thread, so you honestly have the best in the business to assist you !
