....They're canny little creatures. I had to rescue this youngster from a Pitt Bull - It sounds heroic but the dog was on a lead (harness) and it was helped by the owner not being keen on his dog devouring the hog.

Not very hardy though. Every time I've seen one recently (which isn't often) it's had something wrong with it. I've then traipsed down to the local wildlife hospital only to be informed that it had snuffed it by the following day. No wonder they're a rare sight nowadays, they keep dying!

Got to get in on this one. Unfortunately we were not able to have kids, so the dogs became our family.

At first I didn't think I wanted a dog, but after a very short time, I couldn't imagine life without one. Sounds silly, but I can't imagine I could love a child any more than we do our Cocker Spaniels.

A few pictures.

SAL

She was our first and sadly died on Sept 11th 2009, at a decent age of 14. Nearly destroyed me having her put to sleep but she was in distress with so much wrong that It had to be done.

JAKE

We got him as company for Sal when she was 4 years old and they hit it off straight away and were best pals. Whereas Sal was a true lady (didn't like getting wet or dirty), Jake (otherwise know as ruff and tumble) is a real boy and can get filthy at the drop of a hat.

Giving the wife a "love"

and the day we got him...

Both pals together...

Cheers
Andrew

....Fabulous set of pictures, Jake  :happy2:

It doesn't sound silly at all to me. Personally I believe that an animal's life is just as valuable/important as a human's life.

I don't trust anyone who doesn't love dogs.

You did the right thing to end the suffering - Quality of life is all important. So, someone please shoot me when I can't drive any more.

Here's my lot, first up the old boys all over 13 years old.

Few pictures before they started to slow it down.

Then picked up this little guy, as the others were getting on we thought a puppy would be a good idea.

Would of taken this one as well if I could haha

First pictures when we got him home at 11 weeks

Little bit older and snapped with the golf.

These are from august when he was 6.5 months old, need to get some more recent ones.

My Boxer is getting towards age 9 now and its breaking my heart knowing that he wont be around for ever. 10-12 out of a boxer is a good shout.

PS Boxers are A1 with children, very protective - its other dogs they're not great with, all the kids pull him/ears/stump/legs/saggy skin and he never muffs - if a staffy crosses his path then he can be a handful

I realise I'm quoting an ancient post, but the first time I saw your avater it reminded me of our old family dog - he was a cracker and even three years after he passed on aged 7, I still miss him. I'd actually take him out in any weather conditions as he was a pleasure.

Me and my mrs are looking at having kids in the next year or two, as soon as she is 'at home' I'm getting a boxer pup - I also work away and I can't think of any dog that looks so nasty but is soft as sh**e with people!

My mum has a Border Collie and he is very bright. Taught himself to bring the post in - started getting biscuits as a reward - started bringing post in individually - started getting rewards individually. Not daft at all!

Anyway, here's our boxer when he was about 4.

Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)
