Help me to spend some money - which modifications?
« on: July 16, 2010, 06:24:45 pm »
Well, at the ripe old age of 43 and after having been a VW man since the purchase of a Mk 3 Golf Driver back in 1993, I've decided to look into some 'tasteful' mods for my 24,000 mile '06 GTI.

I'll have around £1500 to spend in the next few weeks, so was thinking:

Revo Stage 1 remap at circa £500 and.........

What else??

Over to you guys.   :popcornsoda:

Thanks guys.  :happy2:

Am liking the sound of:

Revo Stage 1 Remap - circa £500

K&N Panel Filter - £30

New DV - £50

Forge short-shifter - £100

Performance downpipe - £500

Front and rear Anti-roll bars - £275

That comes to circa £1455.

I've not long bought an RCD510, so don't feel the need of an RNS510.

Any recommendations on the downpipe or Anti-roll bars? I had a Balance Motorsport rear ARB fitted on my Mk4 GTI and it certainly improved the handling no-end.

Cheers so far.

didnt think about the short shift.  very subtle mod, that makes changing gear alot smoother and nicer..

the downpipe could be had cheaper if you shop around with the likes of pipeworks etc(thy are £450 iirc),

ARB wise look into whiteline, eibach and h&r.  prices vary.

what about a VWR lower engine mount to complete the package

JKM have a much cheaper version of this on their website, and it looks exactly the same for half the price.

Just as a wee update, have got my car going in next week to Star Performance in Kirkcaldy for a GIAC stage 1 remap, Milltek performance downpipe and high flow cat, Forge induction kit, Forge short-shifter and a new DV.

Will get ARB's fitted at a later date, once my bank account has recovered!

Really looking forward to having the work done!
