Needs to be on ramps, or axle stands at the very least, the turbo is at the back of the engine near the bottom. Its a half an hour job for a garage with a ramp.  :happy2:

I would be surprised if it never, 99% of boost problems are down to the diaphragm type DV, you could also give all you pipe work a check to the cooler as they can come loose or perish a bit which will give you boost drop off.  :happy2:

As TC says its a straight forward job.

You will need the following tools though before you start

T20 & T27 torx bit for the engine undertray

5mm or 6mm hex Allen key or bit for the DV which is held in by 3 bolts (beware there isn't much room for a socket set and you will need an angled one to do it properly) I find a long Allen key the easiest way. The reason I say 5 or 6mm is I have come across both size bolts holding the DV in but the default is 5mm iirc

It will take you about 45 mins to do yourself.

I would stick to OEM too - but whilst you are at it check your turbo intercooler hoses too.

I changed this the other day on mine, it took me a bit more than an hour.  My DV was held on with three T30 bolts.  I didn't bother taking off the engine undertray, and the main issue was that there was limited space around it, so I had to move the bolts about 10 degrees a time, whilst lying on my back with one arm through the wheel arch and the other straight up.

It made a big difference to my car though.
