My Tuneside Remap experience - With pics :D
« on: July 25, 2010, 11:42:57 am »
This is posted from the other forum so some details will not match up

Hi guys,

Took the plunge today and had the Edition 30 remapped. After deliberating for weeks on who to choose, i finally decided on Tuneside, run by Chris (Topher) and Ben from this forum.

After many many emails to Chris, I was finally convinced and re-assured that he would look after the car and the map would be perfect.

I set off from Doncaster to Peterborough ( i think?   ) at 7am and arrived there at 9 ish.

Straight away i was politely greeted by them both and they got cracking on doing a full diagnostics check and visual check of engine, exterior and underbody.

Once that was over, it was put straight on the Rolling Road and the 'before' run was done. ( Ran 201bhp at the wheels, which is essentially 231bhp at the flywheel, so pretty much bang on standard, thus accurate)

The car was left to rest, then the map was installed and another run was taken. It ran 250 and abit bhp at the wheels which equates to 280 and abit bhp at the flywheel, and a bhp increase of 50bhp.

More importantly the torque curve has shot up the same ammount and has had the imperfections smoothed out. (graphs coming later)

On the road the car is incredible. So smooth, so fast, sooooooo much better and not pushed too hard to cause any problems.

Thankfully the turbo spools up quicker and you can even hear it whistle ;) ;) Also managed to get better mpg on the way home (when my lead boot wasnt on   )

I would urge anyone who is thinking about a remap to consider this company. They are the dogs nuts!!!

I managed to see beyond the remap snobbery of other larger companies offering similar service, and I'm over the moon it paid off  :drinking:

Thanks again to Chris and Ben.

Just one pic for now. Ill put more on 2moz when i have time..

Some good pics, did you not want the extra 20 bhp from Revo?

Nice one mate. Did you get a printout that you could post up here?

I guess this is why you didn't turn up for the RR day at TS Tuning yesterday.

No problem mate.
I actually wanted someone with a bog standard GTI or ed30 to run as it would have given a definite indication on how accurate the RR results were on the day.

Hope you're enjoying your new found power.
