Edition 30 question

Hi,

I have few question about the GTI edition 30. I am grateful of all the info I can get - so thanks in advance.

Questions.
1. Is the Edition 30 considered as a totally different model than GTI or is it just like for example GTI comfortline?
2. If I would use chip tuning to get more power from the engine witch one of the gearboxes are more durable (DTS or manual)?

Edition 30 is a differnent model to the GTi .

The Dsg is by far more able to handle more power as standard, then the Manual gearbox.

Its basically the same as a Gti, but has different wheels, different interior and a bigger turbo with different engine internals and when tuned gets massive gains, the engine is basically the same as the audi S3 in the ed30, some say it isnt but after seeing the same part numbers for both engines i believe it is

The Ed30 has a bigger turbo than the standard GTI and is more easily tunable for better results.

I agree that the DSG would be more durable to handling the power.

Failing clutches Joe .What normally happens after about 15+k miles on a mapped manual.

Thats what the O.P was asking afterall

Perhaps i should of worded it better , but you seem to be the only one that doesnt

If I am planning about 260 - 270 hp do I have a problem with the clutch in the manual?

you do know your talking sh1t dont you as the manual gearbox can handle the power its the clutch that over time will start to slip   mine was the first to do it ages ago   but this is a very easy and cheapish fix unlike some of the dsg cars i know of that the boxes have fooked up big   but thats not for me to say who they are   and my gearbox was in bits having the diff done and i asked what the box was like after 54k of driving and they said it was perfect

How much power you need to have to brake the clutch?

^^^ It's not the BHP it's the torque and the way the car is driven that kills the clutch or dual mass flywheel.

If your thinking of remapping a manual ED30 I would say it's always worthwhile budgeting for a clutch within a few months.

they will both last the same but a dsg will cost more if it goes wrong to fix pure and simple a manuel box every grg knows them inside out but not everyone knows the ins and outs of the dsg box

Anyone fancy adding NOS to their Manual GTi and see which Clutch lasts longest along with Hurdys DSG!!!

From feedback on this very forum. The DSG and all thats directly connected to it will handle it better yes, but what do i know.
