How do you remove this from the dashboard
« on: July 26, 2010, 03:05:44 pm »
How do you remove the phone cradle from the dashboard?
Will it leave a hole in the dash?
Is it worth anything on fleabay?

This is from inside the glovebox.

I was wondering the same thing, got an iphone 3gs, so cant buy a cradle, and already bought the bluetooth toch thing, that didnt work either.
Seems like its a new glovebox, about £50 off ebay!

Assuming i understand what you mean and you want to be able to remove that phone kit and not have a hole left behind in the dash then you can buy the part of the dash thats had the hole put in to replace that piece so its tidy - which is what i've done, i just havent fit it yet. Cost me about £26 thru my mate at TPS.

Its a huge piece of the dash you get tho, i'll find a pic and part number later if you like

That's right, i just want to get rid of it with no sign that it was fitted,
I still need to know how to remove the thing.
If you could get that part number i'd be grateful.

No worries, i'll post it up when i get home just before 6.

As for fitting it - it looks like it might be fun which is why its still sat in my 2nd bedroom waiting to go on the car lol

That whole lower section from just above the ali stip is the glovebox housing and is actually pretty easy to pull out.  :chicken:

You say "pull out" is it not screwed in then?

Yes its screwed in - the ally dash trim looks like it clips on to that lower piece and you'd need to remove the glovebox itself first as it fixes to it

You need to change the full glovebox has that is what the phone holder is sitting on, once you take the holder off you will be left with 4 holes.

If you get one of these dent master type of blokes they maybe able to make it look good,  but seen has a second hand fleebay glovebox will be less than one of the dent guys you may aswell just buy a glovebox and replace it.

Yes sorry there are 7 screws holding it in, see about half way through this guide for removing it.  It looks daunting but its actually pretty straightforward.

I've removed this from my car.

As stated previously, you will need a new glovebox.  It is also quite easy to change.
