A different Snow Lance Question
« on: July 26, 2010, 03:15:45 pm »
Having jsut ordered myself a snow foam lance from Auto Perfection - top service. I thought of another question regarding its use - As I have a black car and live on a main road I often notice that the day after washing, I get a light covering of dust, which you could perphaps blow off if you were so inclined. Would the snow foam lance (and towel dry) be suitable as a sole means of a quick wash for getting rid of this?

Just concerned that if I snow foamed then towel dried I might be rubbing dust particles into the paint causing marks.

Some might do that but I never would mate. Best bet is a snow foam then a rinse. To dry, I sometimes blow dry the car.

Ah so snow foam & rinse, but no drying with a towel?

I live on a main road and that makes it very difficult to keep the car clean in between stages.

Personally I don't towel dry after snowfoaming. There's tiny particles still stuck to the paintwork that are removed only by washing with a mitt.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Water marks can be washed off the next time you have chance. The swirl marks and marring you leave when towel drying a dirty car can only be polished out.

I know which I'd want on my paint!

In between washes i do the following

Preassure wash
Snow foam
Preassure wash rinse
Wax Rinse - I use nielsens wax rinse additive in the (Clean) detergent bottle on the washer on low preassure. (Turtle wax  "Wax it Wet" does almost the same job.)
then rinse off and take a quick drive.

Usually does the trick.  :happy2:

I agree with jay and wolfy if your going to just rinse i wouldnt go near it with a drying towel for the reasons they have stated. I just simply

Snow foam
Rinse
Give it a quick spray with megs last touch (or any drying aid) Demon shine is meant to be good and cheap
then rinse over with a open ended hose this lets the water sheet off much better than with a PW.

Car is usually dry as a bone after the above.

P.S if you want a car to test out your new foam lance on ill drop mine around :happy2: Aint been cleaned since you seen it last

Neither has mine  :surprised:

I just had to nip down to Asda to get something for the baby and while I was there I saw the demon shine 2 for a fiver - worth a shot, it says pour on and drive off, reminds me of the old days before I found about about drying towels belting down the road to get shot of the water
