What Map Version Do I have ?
« on: July 27, 2010, 01:21:04 pm »
With all the talk about the latest map version being 6.1, I thought I would see what maps I have installed. The set up screen shows this ?

What version is this please ???

That is probably a modified version 6.1

When you insert a map disc the System checks that number to see if it is a newer disc. As long as it differs from the one installed then it asks if you want to copy it etc

Usually they are only 4 Digits and only alter like that when someone has modified the disc. Does yours have speed cameras?

Yes, Darren added the speed cameras to it (although it's only visual - no warning bong etc.).

I'm only running the Version 1100 Firmware so wasn't sure if my maps were up to date ?

Yes thats V6 maps then and the number is just down to modification of adding speed cameras.

They are only visual as the MFD doesn't have a POI warning facility.

Cheers Carl  :happy2:

Just out of interest, do you know if Firmware 1100 is still the latest for a 2005 Model year (with a Rev E Can gateway) that still avoids the battery drain issues on a Rev B unit ?

Yes it is as far as i'm aware.

268X and upwards was supposed to fix the problem but i know of a couple of cars that still have it. You can get a Can gateway on Ebay for £85

Can Gateway Clicky

Thats an AD version and the latest available is AF but if you went to a dealer you would be paying nearly double that price :happy2:

Thanks for the link Carl but I'd probably sh1t myself if I attempted to do it myself - or knowing my luck I would turn the whole car into a brick

1300 is now the new f/w for the B version and it supposed to have the 7 digit p/c search but this is unconfirmed as of yet?

Andrew the map number is a case oif me using Pimp My Nav to do the discs its an amazing piece of programming and so simple to use,  it cost me about £30 and it works with all the major manufacturers nav discs I just download my POI off of PocketGPSworld and Pimp my nav does every thing else.

My question exactly.

Thanks for the head up Darren, so I'm basically running the lastest 6.1 maps that you have pimped (love that phrase)

Press and hold setup for about 30secs. It will cycle through setup menu, radio service menu and then finally test menu.

It needs to be enabled via VCDS though.

Apperantly 1300 is the same has 1200 which i presume doesn't give the battery drain this is from what i have read?
You can find 1300 f/w over on vwnavi.com, Andrew them maps you have in are v6 not 6.1. I am waiting for v7 to come out or 2800 f/w with proper full 7 digit pcode searching :happy2:
