On the MkV the BWA engines were introduced partly to reflect poorer quality petrol in some export countries.
Lower compression, different piston part nos to AXX...

Also, depending what you believe, the AXX uses forged piston rings, whereas the later models didn't.

Some say that makes the AXX worse, others say it makes it better.

Then you have the cam lobe wear issue, again, some say the AXX didn't suffer with this issue, only the 2006+ models, others will say all engine codes were affected.

Anyway, what nobody has said yet... Once you get the 5-6 hour remap, good luck, as you'll be going back to buy the full version VERY soon after! :D

Im resisting a trial map for now for that very reason ;)

 :signLOL:

I have resisted since last Sept. Don't think I can for much longer.

Everyone said this would happen.
No Golf anymore.
Enjoyed the last five years of ownership of Mk5 & 6 GTIs.
Plus an excellent forum for knowledge and new ways to deplete the bank account.
Thank You Everyone.

Be aware though that once you have the trail map installed, it overwrites the standard ecu code and the only way to get it back is to get VW to reflash it.

will it cause any problems to my car once the map has finished?

My AXX has had 103,000 miles so far on the original cam follower... got it checked at 98k and was told it looked like new. Was quite pleasantly surprised.
There seem to be a few areas where early-model GTIs have better quality of build/components over later models.
