Avoiding void warranty

Are there any mods I can do that won't void the warranty?

Am thinking of changing the air filter to a decent one. Any recommendations?

you only void the warranty on the part you have taken off but with all new parts u get a warranty any way

not necessarily mate, some aftermarket parts may in the dealers eyes cause strain on adjoining standard parts which would in turn void an all component warranty

saying that though as long as your sensible and dont bolt a supercharger on you'll be just fine, eg i have a milly and an evoms cai, 19's and many other bits and my dealer is totally cool with them. its worth remembering that even if your delaer isnt to good about it, depending on what you fit you could always put the stock item back on whenever the car goes back to the dealership, mildly modding is the key

Yeah the filter would be something I'd remove from the vehicle before servicing.

What about air intakes? Quick mod or too lengthy and involving? I remember everyone and his hamster buying Carbonio but who are we now waiting for to bring out a new intake?

I personally prefer CAI's to panel filters, most kits are very easy to fit on a mk5, mine took around 10 minutes even with no instructions!  I would guess there will be a photo fit guide either with the kit or on vwortex etc

   i tell my dealer not to touch the air filter and they dont as i check mine after a service and they dont change them until the 40k service  but i clean mine every 10k

YEah I read that thread last night after having my last post.

Still not sure whether I should go for a CAI like d-bilas or not. I like the look of it but I hate the fact you have to remove the engine cover and this is why I was leaning towards the carbonio intake - you get to keep the oem lid so it's quicker to swap just before servicing. Plus I like the look of the engine cover.

Has anyone had any problems/negativity with the carbonio? Like maybe wishing they preferred a different CAI? Are there any other alternatives to carbonio that don't involve having to remove the cover or buy a modded one?
