Hi Guys

i'm just about to install my rns 510 and was wondering do I defiantly need to code the unit and if so what do I need to buy and do?

It depends on what the rns was programmed to do before you got it, I think most bits will work fine, but you might not get directions on the highline (if you have it), there will be errors when it's read via vcds etc but they don't affect the performance

Is it about 3" high ?, and not half plastic, I.e full display

One thing I found with mine was that Bap protocol was enabled, should be for a mk6 but not for mk5. So when I used VCDS it gave lots of errors to do with intermittent communication problems with the DSG buttons on the stearing wheel etc.. I turned it off and all it well.
