Paypal Advice Needed
« on: July 28, 2010, 09:56:28 pm »
I'm pretty new to Paypal and haven't really used it before.

If I selling something on say, Pistonheads etc how do I get them to pay me via Paypal? Do I have to give them some info or something and does it charge me? Tried looking on Paypals site but I can only see something about business invoicing?

Hi mate. Once you've registered your details and linked your bank to your account, then all they need is your email address, the buyer then sends payment to your email address and the money is automatically added to your paypal account. Then you can either leave the money in your paypal account to pay for stuff. Or you can withdraw it to your bank account for a small fee.  :happy2:

Just give them your pay pal email address, get them to mark it as a gift if possible as then you don't pay a fee  :happy2:

I think the fee they charge per transaction is 3%  of the amount plus 20p. (Is for ebay items anyway)

Is it not a bit risky paying for something as a 'gift' as it takes away the protection that paypall offers if the goods don't turn up?  Not suggesting thats a problem for Boothy's buyer but worth keeping in mind.

It would be a risk to the buyer to send money as 'gift'. The seller could just do a runner, if he wanted to.

I only ever send as a gift if I trust the seller.

Absolutely, and I'm in no way casting aspersions but just in case anyone was reading this prior to making a transaction with someone they had absolutely no knowledge of I thought it was worth highlighting  :drinking:
