I have been deliberating for weeks now on what car to get next as our family car, the car will mostly be used by the missus when she goes back to work next year and she covers quite a few miles back and 2 to Wales each day. The car will also be family car for days out and holidays so needs to be roomy.
I was 80% sure we would get a golf estate or a Passat, but i came across the hyundai ix 35 last week and now fancy getting one of these, in the diesel version. Not very exciting i know, but the GTI is for that.  :wink:

               

5 year Warranty and i cant find a poor review on it.

So my question is: Has anybody came across any bad stories about these. And have you guys got any more ideas on what could be a better choice as our new family car.  :smiley:

Looks are subjective, the old cashcow got poor ratings in a lot of reviews, as i did consider it at first.  :smiley:

My brother is the sales manager at our local Hyundai and he's had a couple of them as his wheels, he seems to really rate them and has another one lined up to go on for 01 September.

Only problem is low residuals with them, if you're planning on keeping it 7 years to take full advantage of the excellent warranty then it probably makes sense.

If its going to get changed in 3 years (even if she says it wont - you'll have changed the GTI by then and she'll be looking at your new motor enviously) then I persoanlly think you'll lose a lot of money.

Have you considered a really big spec Focus C Max - roomy and if you get a 6 month oldone you'll save a fortune and let somebody else take the hit

Surely he could just do the same with an IX35 though and save more money and get the benefit of an extra 18months warranty over the Ford!

It would be a new one, it is a brand new model and there is only about 10 for sale on autotrader, i think i can get it cheaper new, than the second prices. The Kuga is about 4grand more for the same spec and its a lot more to run. The touran is dated now and by all accounts not very reliable.

I think after the first three years it will cover less and less as items start to be classed as 'wear and tear' and they'll quibble a bit more. Just my opinion of course.

also try citroen c crosser , my sister has one which they love, but I have driven it and it was  :sick:

the dealer i work for are hyundai dealers and i had a go in one last week..i was very impressed with it but its a bit small for my for ever increasing family of 7 come feb :signLOL:

i had some sort of seat people carrier as a courtesy car once, it was quite good, is it altea? the smaller looking one? anyway, i saw some sort of white kia at a show last month, looked nice! god im gettin old :signLOL:
