If u don't want to spend money get microsoft security essentials, its free and very good.

If you don't mind spending look at webroot internet security.

Security programs are all personal choice to be honest, any test done they only prove about 70% effective anyway. The rest is down to you!

Personally i run security essentials, even though I get free keys for any of the full paid security programs.

Would the Microsoft Security thing be all I need or should I run something else along side it?

You can get a decent security set up with freeware.

Zonealarm firewall
Avast antivirus (I used to use AVG until it became bloatware)
a-squared anti-malware
spywareblaster
lavasoft ad-aware
spybot search and destroy

The important thing with any anti-spyware/anti-virus software is to do regular scans.

So would i need all of the above to be covered?

nope just that will do

I use bit defender, been a great product for years. It’s reasonably priced and they offer a 3 PC licence which suits us. Comes with a great add in called file vault, runs very quietly in the background, checks e-mails by code line (can be a bit slow but it’s bulletproof). Most of my mates have converted across to this from Norton  :scared: and McAffee  :scared:

**cough, cough**
Buy this kaspersky for £8-99, download the latest version here http://www.kaspersky.co.uk/kis_latest_versions and use the key from the 2009 KIS package to install the latest version.
