New car time?
« on: July 31, 2010, 10:39:01 am »
After having owned nowt but superdubs for the past 15 years,I feel the need to have a go with something a bit different, but I need to sell the Golf first!
I've narrowed it down to this small list;

Mercedes CL55 AMG
Nissan 350Z Nismo
Skyline GTR R32
V8 Range/Land Rover
Classic Mini Cooper

The first three wouldn't be the daily drivers,so I would have to budget for a cheap old hackabout, but what do you reckon?
My first choice would be the Merc,as the used prices have dropped like a stone-you can buy a 2001 model for around 8-12k now.
Thats a lot of bang for the buck. :driver:

It's got to be the Merc.
The Nissan's would be nice but they are very Max Power

Got to be the Mercedes, that engine is a beast. But as Jules says the parts are not cheap even though the car may be.

The CL55 AMG is a very sexy car indeed.  :happy2:

A Brabus bullit would be my no.1 choice if I ever won the lottery!

As Jules said the Merc will cost a fortune to run/maintain.

Old school mini is awesome but imagine crashing in 1?

Would be the 350Z for me from that list. Probably be the newest and least mileage of the bunch.

All of those are slower than a stage 2 plus k04 car.

Whats your budget mate and what exactly do you want out of a car?

A CL55 AMG is a rocket!

500bhp, 0-60 in 4.5 secs, 0-100 in 9.35 and a 1/4 mile in low 12's

the CL55 is like over 2 tonnes though.

Me and wayne have had numerous plays with a cls 55AMG and that was only a teeny weeny bit quicker.

Well, just spent the weekend doing some costing up on the CL55....the cheapest insurance qoute I got was £715! :scared:
Thats more  than twice what I pay for the Golf now.
I could have gone for an M3,but I've never been keen on Beemers.I just fancied something that was V8 and rear wheel drive for a change...oh,and was uber-sleazy!
Think I might just get a Bluefin for the time being.

Ditto, drove one on track last week and it was awesome. Needs bigger (better) brakes mind.
