I'm in the same situation iOS4 on 3GS. Wanted to JB originally but now not so sure. What are the drawbacks?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Forgive me for sounding simple but I've never done Anything like this before, but here goes. I've got an iPhone 3GS running the newest software (4.1 I think) and I'm tempted to buy an iPad but I don't want to pay £15 a month for it to have 3G. So if I jailbreak my phone does that mean I can connect my phone to the iPad and use the iPhones 3G? If yes than great but surely there must be a catch? Does it effect the phone, apps, music contract with o2? Thanks chaps.

I still cant get MyWi 4.0 to work. Anyone else had any problems?

Edit: Figured out what the problem was. Needed to transfer the licenses from my old iPhone 3G to the iPhone 4 within Rock. :)

It puts a heavy load on the phone battery as you will be using 3G and WiFi at the same time and obviously you will need to buy the MiWi

MyWi 4.0 costs $19.99 and allows you to share the phones 3G network as a wifi hotspot.

Yes MiWi is only available in Cydia shop which you can only get to if you jailbreak

Its currently very easy to jailbreak both iPhones and Ipads, just by going to a website

Apple will have to shut the door on their next firmware version as its a pretty big security risk that has been found, basically any website that directs you to a pdf file could insert malicious code onto your i device   :scared:

Bit off topic, but does anyone know how to delete all contacts off an Iphone without wiping everything else off (ie restoring factort settings)? I need to somehow get all my names (500+) off my Blackberry and on to my Iphone and really hope I don't have to delete the existing contacts off the Iphone and add all the new ones manually, as that would take years..  :scared:

To remove all your contacts on your iPhone, under iTunes, untick the Sync Contacts With... option and further down the screen under Advanced enable the replace information on this iPhone for contacts

To get your Blackberry contacts onto your iPhone can you sync your Blackberry with Outlook, and then sync Outlook with your iPhone, assuming you are using a real PC

Jay,

One of the biggest "issues" for me with my 3GS (with OS 4.01) is the fact that you can't bluetooth contacts. Being poor, I don't have the VW premium bluetooth unit in the car (with your lovely RNS ), but I do instead have a Parrot CK3000 Evo, with a special harness to allow it to work with the steering wheel buttons.

TBH it will do me, but with the Iphone not being able to send a contact to the Parrot (like nearly every other phone in the known universe can), I am forced into using the Ipone's own voice dialling (which is a bit hit and miss to say the least).

If you jailbrake an Iphone, are there apps that allow you to add this functionality (or is it all hardware based) ?
