Awesome upgrade! How much did it set you back?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Loving every minute of it so far, seats are mint and the noise as you approach 5krpm and above is insatiable, but it's just the way it hugs the road which has impressed me the most...it goes beyond my current capabilities

I had been looking into a few mods, like zorst, plenum and map as I thought it might not be powerful enough but will be holding fire, going to follow robins advice and remap my driving brain before I start tinkering with this one.

....CarLimits at North Weald airfield might be of interest. If so, I recommend a 4-person day as the max. Andy Walsh is easy to get on with and teaches you without making you feel useless.

Another course for learning good roadcraft in a performance car is Drivetrain with Big John:   http://www.drivetrain.uk.com/

I got the most out of Drivetrain and apply most of it every time I drive.

HTH  :happy2:

Cheers robin

Still got some time off before I start my new job so will get in touch with big John sounds a good fun day out  :happy2:

Big John literally is a BIG fella! He's a very highly qualified instructor and used to instruct the Thames Valley boyz in blue. Course is all day on the roads of Oxfordshire but with plenty of short breaks.

....Twas waaaay back in 2006 and, surprise surprise, I was given a discount. Best to call and ask for current price.. He's big but he's friendly.

What I learnt applies to driving any car on public roads but especially one with performance. I really think that everyone with a fast car should do this course. I'm really grateful to him for what he's taught me. It doesn't make me the best but helps me stay safe and out of potential trouble.

Apparently an aftermarket exhaust on a road-going Porsche is probably wasting money: Insignificant performance gains and likewise to sound.

Actually on a Cayman/Boxter the main thing holding the engines back is the breathing. People on the forums have changed the induction and exhaust and release around 30hp. It must be the area where Porsche have tried to distance the power between the Cayman and the 911.

Sheet the bed James, that exhaust does sound amazing for a straight 6!

Top purchase imo (the Cayman). I really like the shape, much better than the old and new Boxsters imo.

Mmmmm nice car!  Cracking deal as well, and like you've said, boy do they handle well!

My next car is going to begine with P and end with ORSCHE!  Plans are afoot already - 911 for me though for the kiddies!
