My oem wheel caps look fake
« on: August 07, 2010, 01:29:33 pm »
Can someone tell me if these are oem caps like the ebay seller stated, or fakes.
They look cheap and not very well finished, The chrome vw logo is lumpy and bumpy
And they are made in China not Germany,

I bought genuine from VW the other day.

Mine are also a little lumpy and bumpy, however they are made in Italy not China.  :happy2:

They do look like fakes from the pic.

There are a lot of fake ones on ebay, although there are also genuine ones too, the price could be a good indicator as to whether they're fake.

My bf brought one last week as a replacement, I told him to buy the more expensive one and it paid off cos I'm 100% sure it's genuine.

These things aren't particularly expensive for the set. Much better than buying cheapo ones off egay.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Genuine ones cost about a fiver each.

Mine, from my VW dealer, are stamped "Spain PT7" and "VW 3B7 601 171".

I think you should give them some abuse and then ask for your money back.

I should have read the neg feedback from the other mugs like me who got stung.

I've been searching again on fleabay and have noticed there is a new version wheel caps that resist corrosion much better, around £23, i might get them.

Don't forget to check their feedback first!

I still think you should as for your money back though.  :happy2:

I most definitely will,
I'll say i went to vw and that they confirmed the parts as fakes.
That might spook them a bit

If all else fails, tell ebay you 'never received item...'

I think you're right to encourage some justice being done, Mandy  :happy2:

But I'm somehow reminded that Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned! Don't just stick the knife in... Twist it!
