Its a factory fitted unit, so I went into VW today and they have told me the new owner will need to bring their car in to a dealer so they can code the stereo to their car and that their was no point telling me the current code as that corresponds to my car, does that sound correct to you guys?

Sounds like BS to me, they don't need to code it or how do we all fit RNS to our cars, they probably just want the money, did this unit come in your car and do you still have this car

Thats Absolute Balls! The code is unique to the head unit, not the car. Otherwise a stolen unit would only need the code of the vehicle it is fitted into after it was stolen. Kinda defeats the object, doesn't it? Sounds like you don't have the deepest thinking dealer staff there.

The unit code must be input each time the head unit is moved from one vehicle to another. Once in the vehicle it doesn't need to be re entered even if the unit is removed & refitted. Only if it goes to a new car.

If this unit was fitted new to your car, they must give you the code. It's your unit, bought from them.

Took the stereo back in to the dealers and one of the mechanics took a look and got the code of in 2 minutes, shame it took two trips to the dealer to do such a simple job.
