Battery Drain / Fuse Info needed, please....

I had to call out VW Assist / RAC yesterday morning.. My car hadn't been driven for 2 weeks and the battery was flat. JKM fitted a brand new VW battery in December 09. RAC ran battery test 3 times and so confirmed it was ok. He found a 0.55 amp drain. This problem has happened before (third time) when my car has been left unused in the garage for 10-14 days.

My friend who has done all my aftermarket electrics such as Alpine SatNav, PogoAlert, TyreSure, ran some tests today and we identified the fuse in the engine bay box known as F19 as drainage. But does anyone know if anything else other than "Radio" is connected to F19 please? My VW Handbook only lists "Radio".

as far as i know its just the Radio R/R what h/u is in your car

HU is an Alpine double-din SatNav/DVD with extra amp and DVD unit under seat. Tests were done by the guy who originally fitted it and he's the one who wanted to know about F19.

I take it the battery is now fully charged? Take out fuse f19 and see if the radio works. See if the wipers work. post on golfmkv suggests this is for the wipers - again the guy said the manual said it was the radio.

F19 for the wipers is on the ordinary Mk5 Golf, not the GTI, according to my Handbook.

It's worth a shot robin. If you have an amp also that will have it's own power supply so that needs checking. The amp will receive a signal wire from the head unit. This basically tells the amp when to turn itself on and start drawing it's own power from the battery. I've got a feeling there might be smoothing wrong with that side of things.

Problem solved! :jumpmove:

A Canbus serving my Alpine DVD SatNav was wired to Live. Connecting to Ignition has solved the problem according to very thorough amp meter tests.

I thought it may have been this RR from the other thread we briefly talked about it but Ive been so busy I had no time to reply :ashamed:

It should be in 1 of the first 11 fuses on the dash fuse box.
